DCT Trading continues its operations with a strong awareness of the prestigious legacy it upholds.
Our Source of Inspiration
Founded in the early 2000s with a small capital obtained through borrowing, DCT Trading has evolved into a global company engaged in agricultural commodity trading, particularly focusing on cotton. It sources products from various countries worldwide, selling them in the domestic market and exporting them internationally. The capital and experience accumulated in commodity trading have led to the expansion of its activities through joint ventures like YAKA and BLUEFARM in Greece. YAKA processes cherries grown in the region in modern facilities, supplying them to major supermarket chains across Europe, while BLUEFARM has become Greece's largest producer of blueberries by tonnage.
The growth story of the company has been driven by principles such as determination, steadfastness, contributing to the country and society, and most importantly, being a reliable business partner. This vision, perspective, and ambition in the company's growth story stem from the resilient spirit of Dr. Sadık Ahmet, the father of DCT Trading's founder, Mr. Levent Sadık Ahmet. Dr. Sadık Ahmet was born in 1947 in Gümülcine, Greece. Despite facing adversity and hardship, he not only completed his education to become a medical doctor but also actively raised awareness about the issues faced by the Turkish community in Western Thrace, becoming their voice to the world. Dr. Sadık Ahmet tirelessly fought for the rights of the Turkish community until his last breath, even enduring personal sacrifices for this cause.
Dr. Sadık Ahmet's mission to benefit society ignited investments in Greece, and the joint ventures not only achieved commercial success but also introduced modern agricultural technologies to the local community. This enabled them to market their products on a global scale. During harvest seasons, employing over 200 workers, they opened new employment opportunities for the Western Thrace Turkish community.
DCT Trading and its affiliated ventures' founder and every employee continue their work with the same determination and spirit of resilience, carrying forward the legacy and vision entrusted to them. We remember Dr. Sadık Ahmet with gratitude, reverence, and longing.
Dr. Sadık Ahmet
Sadık Ahmet, born on January 7, 1947, in the village of Sirkeli in Gümülcine, Greece. He attended Celal Bayar High School and entered Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1966. He later transferred to Thessaloniki University to continue his education. He graduated as a physician from the faculty in 1974 and, following his 34.5-month military service, returned to Western Thrace in 1978 to begin his specialization in surgery.
During his high school years, Sadık Ahmet began addressing the social issues of Western Thrace Turks. He aimed to raise awareness internationally by launching a signature campaign, distributing statements explaining the Turkish issue, and writing opinions in newspapers. As a voice for Western Thrace Turks with his leadership spirit, Sadık Ahmet was arrested on August 8, 1986, and sentenced to 30 months in prison for these activities. Following his release, he became a candidate in the general elections on June 18, 1989, and won, becoming the first independent member of parliament elected from the Western Thrace Turks. However, his tenure as a member of parliament was shortly invalidated.
On January 26, 1990, during a speech where he used the term "Turk," Sadık Ahmet was arrested again and imprisoned in Dudullu Prison in Thessaloniki. After spending two months there, the remainder of his sentence was commuted to a fine, and he was released.
On September 13, 1991, Sadık Ahmet founded the Friendship, Equality, Peace Party (DEB), representing Western Thrace Turks, and assumed the role of its leader. He continued his struggle in the political arena.
Dr. Sadık Ahmet tragically passed away at the age of 48 on July 24, 1995, in a suspicious traffic accident while traveling with his family in his own vehicle. He is still remembered today with gratitude as a leader of the Western Thrace Turks.
