YAKA, located in Greece, one of the affiliated partners of the Company, processes the cherries and blueberries grown in the region through quality separation and sizing processes in its processing facilities, turning them into packaged products and exporting them. YAKA supplies some of its cherries and blueberries from BLUEFARM, a subsidiary of the Company, located in Greece. YAKA also acts as an intermediary in the buying and selling of cotton purchased from Greece.

YAKA carries out its cherry and blueberry processing activities at its processing facility in Komotini, Greece. In 2016, construction work started for the establishment of a fresh fruit processing and packaging facility. In parallel, it started cherry production and trading activities by obtaining the necessary certificates (BRC, IFS, GLOBALGAP, GRASP, ISO 22000) in order to be a supplier to large chain markets in the European Union. In the first year of production, 470 tons of cherries were traded.

Region of Yaka

The Yaka region is located in the northwest of the Greek city of Komotini, at the foot of the Rhodope Mountains, with a history of more than 100 years in cherry cultivation. Due to its location, the Rhodope Mountains protect the orchards from the cold winter breeze and ensure that the days are warm and the nights are cool in the summer months, providing YAKA with a competitive advantage in terms of the earliest harvest at the beginning of May.

YAKA takes its name from the Yaka region due to its strategic location in the center of the cherry blossom region. The combination of surrounding weather conditions and wisely selected varieties results in extremely firm, sweet and delicate cherries. Among the cherry varieties grown in the Yaka region are Burlat, Early Lory, Early Bigi, Samba, Sabrina, Lapins, Skeena, Z900, Ferrovia, Regina, Kordia.

In the first days of YAKA's activity, various inspections were carried out according to international standards regarding the building, food safety, quality management system, operation and packaging process. After the actual audits, YAKA, in the Kiraz sector, Greece's BRC is in high AA+, IFS is %100 notunu almışt. YAKA has over 300 GLOBAL GAP certified growers since 2017. The necessary certificates (BRC, IFS, EN ISO 22000, GRASP and GLOBAL GAP) have been secured and cherry production and trading activities have started.
YAKA primarily purchases cherries from cherry producers in the Western Thrace region, where the facility is located, and from producers and cooperatives in other different regions of Greece. Thanks to the technological optical calibrator in its facility, it can categorize the purchased cherries in the most efficient way, both in terms of quality and size. In this way, the products are sold directly to supermarket chains in Europe with various packaging, product quality and service methods. Thanks to its location within the borders of the European Union and its supplier network in Greece, YAKA has the opportunity to carry out trade within the borders of the European Union and expand into new markets.
YAKA exports to European, Asian and Balkan countries with refrigerated trucks and air cargo methods and supplies well-known market chains in Europe and Asia.

YAKA has now started to trade products such as apricots, grapes and pomegranates, as well as cherries. YAKA's suppliers consist of approximately 300 agricultural producers. In addition to providing GLOBALGAP certification to these producers, YAKA also offers consultancy services throughout the year, such as monitoring and control of agricultural maintenance programs, and also continues its activities within the framework of good and controlled agricultural practices.

It employs around 10-12 personnel within the scope of these consultancy services. Around 100 personnel are employed during the cherry season, which takes place between May and July. 95% of the staff consists of Western Thrace Turks.

BLUEFARM was established in 2021 and produces blueberries on a total of 200 decares of purchased and long-term leased land.

In 2023, within the framework of cooperation with experts in blueberry production abroad, a new care program was developed and implemented and the first harvest was achieved. The harvest amount obtained from approximately 6,000 first planted and 3-year-old saplings, followed by around 12,000 planted and 2-year-old saplings, is around 3 tons. This amount is aimed to reach at least 10 tons in the next year and the yield is expected to increase every year until the 6th year after planting and the yield per sapling reaches 4-5 kg.

BLUEFARM's current main activity is blueberry production, but it also produces cherries as a complement. Maintenance work is carried out in the production gardens established within the framework of the consultancy of YAKA experts, between March and November, and harvest is carried out in May-June-July.

BLUEFARM has a total of around 18,000 planted blueberry saplings and around 2,200 cherry trees. It is aimed to plant around 25,000 blueberry saplings during the 2024-2025 winter period. It is anticipated that if blueberries are planted in BLUEFARM's empty lands and all planted saplings (43,000 in total) complete their 6th year, a total blueberry production capacity of approximately 180 tons will be reached on an annual basis.
